PEB San Pablo

Thank you for praying for us this last week as we sp
ent time with the PEB men studying and learning together from 1 Timothy.  The time we spent with these men was absolutely a blessing and we saw God do some amazing things among us.  This was the first Bible class that many of the men have ever taken and I was
very encouraged to see their hunger and dedication to the studying of the Word. I would like to share as much as possible with you about these men so that we can be praying for the together.  The financial sacrifice that they are making to spend one week a month studying God's word is great.  The highest paid of these men receives about Q500 or roughly $62 per month that they earn from a combination of offerings from the church and other tent-making ventures.  I was reminded of this every time I sat down to eat lunch and dinner with them, meals that they are in charge of providing for the PEB teachers.  As we studied together Paul's charge to Timothy to remain in Ephesus to command certain men from teaching false doctrine, we talked about the current situation in San Marcos, a neighboring town that has been in the national news in the last two months for reports of demon possession.  José (above left) is a pastor of a Wesleyan church in San Marcos and shared with us some of his struggles of pastoring among a people who practice all kinds of false doctrine and religions.  At the conclusion of the study, we decided to take the men to San Marcos with only the pretense of praying for the kings and all those in authority in the town and for José and his ministry there.
In the picture at left (from left to right) is Carlos, Valerio, Sebastian (hand raised), José, Antonio, Mateo, Me, César, Felipe (orange vest) Anastasio (handbag), Nicolás.  In the picture below right we had an opportunity to pray for the mayor of San Marcos (Lucas, white shirt) and to present he and his counsel with a Bible.  We introduced José to Lucas and as part of our discipleship/leadership training will be encouraging José to develop his relationship with the mayor.  In the picture below left, the men are praying for Josefina (lady in red) and for her two children that have been freed from evil spirits.  This was the family that we prayed for last month at their request because her children were being tormented at night and unable to sleep.

The picture above of the rock wall is the site where some children of the town were reported to have unearthed what seemed to be a gravesite and were then involved in some occult activity with local spirit guides.  Many of the people of San Marcos believe that this event is what has caused the recent spiritual oppression and manifestation of evil spirits.  The Peb men in the picture on the right are praying in front of the wall for God to pour out his Spirit of truth in this town through his manifestation which is the church.  Please pray for these men as God reminds and directs you.  It is a privilege to partner with you in this teaching ministry.
