the Gift

Fifty-seven years later and the audio Bible in Chuj (pronounced chew) is here! On Friday Dave (seated right) and Helen, Ambrocio and Ernesto (seated left), pastor Gaspar and our teammate Jeff Nelson prayed to thank God. We held in our hand the complete Word of God in audio for the Chuj people. That morning we had loaded it onto the Megavoice player. In 1952 the Ekstroms were learning Chuj and translating the NT. In 2007 the translation of the whole Bible was completed. In 2008 the NT was recorded and distributed on the Megavoice players and now the whole Bible is available for the Chuj speaking people in a format they can hear, learn and carry with them to share with others. Pray for the local Chuj church leaders who will meet on Saturday as they plan on how to present the Megavoice player at the annual meetings in January. Pray for our teammates Jeff and Marilee and the Ekstroms as they communicate and plan with with Chuj church leaders to encourage its use for the growth and ministry of the church. The pictures below are of Ernesto and Ambrosio in the recording studio in Huehuetenango and the mountains and surrounding Chuj community.

Wow!
History...living history!Do you just pinch yourselves and wonder how you got such a privilege to be an eye witness to such an event? It blows our mind (as it probably does yours). So amazing to even HEAR about this!
The other piece of it that keeps breaking over our minds is the fact that it is audio---for a poverty stricken and broken country where the literacy rate is---?---that the gospel can be HEARD and easily transported from place to place! I love it! What a thrill to the people at its hearing (and a terror to the enemy!)
The Living God IS accomplishing everything that concerns us---He IS completing all that He has ordained and planned: every good and perfect thing!
This is encouragement to us in Nevada County, where there remains such a darkness, such strongholds as only HE can break.

That last message was from Steve and Anita Bagwell--we forgot to sign it!

Hey Max and Renee, we are praising God with you as you witness this amazing, divinely orchestrated event play out before your eyes. We love the Ekstroms and the Nelsons. Their calling toward ministering to the Chuj people group and others in Huehuetenango is inspiring. Thanks for such a wonderful report. Your friends, Kyle and Nell

Amazing story- what dedication & what a huge milestone has been passed after all these years of faithfully serving God's purpose in their lives & how gracious of God to allow those who worked on this live to see it through to completion themselves & delivered to the people. Love, Mom & Dad
